Had a really hard time reading YET another book about war. But it was short. It was well written. Just hard to think of death and especially with young people. So awful that such hellishness exists on earth juxtaposed against such beauty (the hyacinths). War is just inhumane. Very sad about Murph's "resigning" himself to die. I think Bartle was just trying to save the family some grief, but it led to him getting in trouble and imprisoned. The whole thing is just nuts, especially in the MidEast which has such a noble historic past. I can only pray for peace on earth and no more wars. Please no more sad books....
